This event holds a deeply personal meaning for Gioia dell’Amore Cellars owners, David & Laura. Their vineyard dream was born from Laura’s late sister, Julie, who envisioned starting a winery as two couples. Julie’s battle with ovarian cancer ended before she could see it come to life, but her spirit lives on in every vine, every bottle, and every moment of joy shared here. This luau is our way of honoring her memory, celebrating her dream, and helping others facing their own battles.

About Your Hosts

Barry L. Joyce Local Cancer Support Fund: Barry Joyce envisioned Local People Helping Local people when he dreamed about a fund established to assist people in Rockingham County who are battling cancer.

Why cancer? While Barry was fighting his courageous battle with prostate cancer, he realized the tremendous need in Rockingham County. Cancer is the leading cause of death in Rockingham County.

After his untimely death, the Joyce family established the Barry L. Joyce Local Cancer Support Fund. A fund specifically created to provide financial resources to cancer victims in need. The resources come in the form of small cash contributions to cover pharmacy bills, utilities, auto gas, and food – those everyday expenses, to name a few, that need not be worried about when you are trying to focus on the challenge of beating cancer.
